Pakistani player sets new Guinness World Record with 59 tennis serves in one minute
Lahore attempt certified after strict adherence to international guidelines
DUBAI/LAHORE – Pakistani senior tennis player Talha Waheed has etched his name into sporting history after setting a new Guinness World Record for the Most Successful Tennis Serves in One Minute (Male).
The record-breaking attempt has now officially been recognised by Guinness World Records. The achievement follows months of focused preparation and a carefully monitored attempt carried out under strict international standards.
Waheed, a seasoned competitor on both national and international circuits, has long been a familiar figure in senior tennis categories. Competing primarily in the 35+, 40+ and 45+ doubles events, he has secured multiple national titles and represented Pakistan in ITF senior world ranking tournaments. His international career highlights include reaching a career-best world ranking of 144 in the 40+ doubles category, reflecting consistent performances against strong global competition.
Record attempt
The inspiration behind the challenge stemmed from the previous Guinness World Record of 42 successful serves in one minute, set in 2019 by American player John Perry. Determined to raise the bar, Waheed committed himself to a specialised training programme focused on speed, accuracy and endurance, specifically tailored to the demands of rapid serving.
After more than three months of preparation, the official record attempt took place on November 8, 2024, in Lahore. The session was conducted in accordance with Guinness World Records regulations, with all required procedures, measurements and verifications carefully observed. The attempt centred solely on the number of valid and successful serves completed within the one-minute time limit, leaving no margin for error.
The record confirmation, received earlier this month, officially declared Waheed as the new world record holder, surpassing the previous global mark and setting a new standard for future challengers.

Waheed’s achievement builds on years of competitive experience in senior tennis. His presence in national championships and ITF-sanctioned tournaments has established him as a reliable and disciplined player, particularly in doubles formats. The Pakistan Tennis Federation has repeatedly described him as a seasoned competitor, citing his consistency and commitment to the sport over several age categories.
The milestone was welcomed by senior figures within Pakistan tennis. Pakistan Tennis Federation President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, along with Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail, PTF management and fellow players, extended congratulations to Waheed following the announcement.
