UAE SWAT Challenge 2026 welcomes new countries as Dubai prepares for record participation
First-time participants include Bolivia, El Salvador, and Dominican Republic
DUBAI is set to host the seventh edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge from 7 to 11 February 2026 at the Training City in Al Ruwayyah.
Anticipation is building for the international tactical competition, which combines speed, precision, and operational skill in a series of demanding scenarios.
This year, the challenge will welcome several countries making their debut, along with an expanded roster from previous participants.
New entrants
Debut teams joining the UAE SWAT Challenge include Bolivia, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, a women’s team from China will compete for the first time, reflecting the growing inclusivity and global reach of the event. These teams have expressed enthusiasm for participating in a competition that encourages the exchange of operational expertise and best practices among elite tactical units worldwide.
UAE SWAT Challenge
The UAE SWAT Challenge allows police and rapid intervention teams to measure readiness under pressure, demonstrating tactical skill, physical endurance, and professional competence. Participants compete across five main challenges, earning points daily, with the overall victor determined by cumulative scores.
Organisers stress that the event not only promotes operational excellence but also strengthens international collaboration between law enforcement agencies.
The Training City in Al Ruwayyah offers a dedicated venue for the UAE SWAT Challenge, featuring state-of-the-art facilities for tactical training and competition.
China to defend the title
China, champions of the sixth edition, has confirmed its participation and is expanding its presence from three teams to six, including two women’s teams. Last year, China’s Police Team B secured the top spot with 480 points, while Team C placed third with 457 points. Kazakhstan’s Team Sunkar finished second with 470 points.
The expanded Chinese participation highlights the nation’s commitment to competing at the highest international level and defending its title. Officials from participating teams have praised the UAE SWAT Challenge as a global benchmark for specialised tactical competitions, noting its role in fostering precision, teamwork, and rapid response capabilities among elite units.
Event format
The competition features five demanding challenges, designed to test tactical proficiency, physical fitness, and technical skills. Daily scoring determines the overall winner, rewarding consistent performance across complex scenarios. Teams must demonstrate effective coordination, strategic planning, and operational accuracy to achieve high scores.
The UAE SWAT Challenge has previously entered the Guinness World Records, with the sixth edition hosting 46 countries – the highest number in a tactical police competition to date. The 2026 edition is expected to attract an even wider international audience, enhancing Dubai’s reputation as a hub for elite tactical sports.
Free tickets
Members of the public are welcome to attend the event, with free tickets available via Virgin Megastore. Families and visitors can experience five days of high-intensity action in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. The event provides a unique opportunity to observe elite tactical teams in action and gain insight into specialised police operations.
Public engagement has grown steadily, with 18,000 free tickets booked in 2025, compared to 12,999 in 2024. Visitors can watch teams compete in real-time, cheering for their national representatives while enjoying community activities alongside world-class competition.
