Tourism Authority of Thailand unveils cultural highlights for GCC travellers
DUBAI – Etihad Airways will inaugurate a new direct service between Abu Dhabi and Chiang Mai on 3 November 2025, expanding connectivity for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) travellers.
The route will give tourists easier access to Northern Thailand, an area famed for luxury resorts, wellness retreats and vibrant cultural traditions.
Seasonal highlights
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is showcasing autumn experiences across September to December 2025 to attract GCC visitors. In September, Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site just an hour from Bangkok, offers an immersive journey through Thailand’s golden era.
October will feature the Phuket Vegetarian Festival from 21 to 29 October, with colourful parades and culinary events.
November will bring the Festival of Lights, where rivers across Thailand glow with floating krathongs and Chiang Mai’s skies are illuminated by thousands of lanterns during the Yi Peng celebration.
Seamless travel
Thailand remains a top short-haul choice for GCC residents thanks to its convenience and hospitality. Visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry options are available for GCC nationals and residents, alongside Halal-certified dining, family-friendly activities and luxury pool villas.
