Dubai Police capture Irish fugitive within 48 hours ahead of extradition

DUBAI – The Dubai Police, in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Interior, have arrested an Irish fugitive accused of involvement in an organised criminal group linked to international offences in his home country.
The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to combat cross-border crime and track down individuals wanted by international authorities.
Officials confirmed that legal procedures are now underway ahead of the suspect’s extradition to Ireland.
The arrest followed the receipt of a judicial file submitted by Irish authorities detailing the charges against the suspect and outlining his alleged role within the criminal network. Upon review of the case, Dubai Public Prosecution issued an arrest warrant, initiating formal legal action to detain the individual and begin extradition proceedings.
Dubai Police reported that the suspect was apprehended within 48 hours of the warrant being issued on 15th April. The operation involved intensive search efforts, detailed investigation, and continuous surveillance, enabling authorities to locate and detain the individual in a short timeframe. The force highlighted the efficiency and readiness of its specialised teams in handling high-priority international cases.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting international law enforcement efforts aimed at tackling organised crime.
