Sohail and Khan partnership steers comfortable chase for Red
DUBAI – EMPORIA Red delivered a composed and authoritative performance to defeat EMPORIA Purple in the final of Winter Cup Season 3 at EMPORIA Sports Academy in Dubai this week.
The contest saw Purple elect to bat first but struggle to gain momentum under sustained pressure from Red’s disciplined bowling attack. EMPORIA Red, in response, executed their chase with precision, securing the title with ease.
The final scoreline reflected their dominance across all departments of the cricket game, marking a fitting end to the tournament.
Purple innings
EMPORIA Purple’s batting lineup found it difficult to accelerate as wickets fell at regular intervals, restricting them to 112/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Saif top-scored with 17 runs, while contributions of 14 from Bilal Khan and 15 from Abhinav Saini offered brief resistance but failed to shift the momentum.
EMPORIA Red’s bowling unit maintained tight lines throughout, denying scoring opportunities and building constant pressure. Khuram and Sham Janaka were the standout performers with two wickets each, ensuring Purple never managed to post a threatening total.
Red chase
Chasing 113 for victory, EMPORIA Red approached the target with composure despite an early setback. Khuram Sohail anchored the innings brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 54, while Salman Ali Khan provided strong support with an unbeaten 32. Their partnership ensured the required runs were knocked off in just 17 overs, underlining Red’s control over the contest and their superior execution in pressure situations.
Khuram Sohail’s all-round impact earned him the Man of the Match award for his decisive contribution with both bat and ball.
