UAE introduces first virtual Emirati family led by AI girl Latifa (VIDEO)
Digital Dubai’s virtual ambassadors to foster safe, responsible online behaviour in the Emirates
DUBAI – Digital Dubai has unveiled the UAE’s first-ever virtual Emirati family, led by AI-powered child character Latifa.
The initiative follows an online community vote in which nearly 14,000 people participated to choose her name. Latifa won with 43 percent of the votes, compared with 37 percent for Mira and 20 percent for Dubai.

Latifa made her debut by introducing her virtual family members: father Mohammed, mother Salama, and brother Rashid.

Designed in traditional Emirati attire with modern details, the family reflects warmth and accessibility, particularly for children and families.
The launch marks the country’s first digital model inspired by Emirati values, created to connect with diverse community segments and languages. Digital Dubai described the family as “digital ambassadors” who will share storytelling content, promote smart communication, and encourage dialogue on technology and digital services.
The announcement forms part of wider initiatives rolled out during the “Year of the Community”, declared by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen participation and constructive engagement across society.
How will it work?
Digital Dubai said Latifa and her family will soon appear on social media platforms to highlight its programmes and initiatives. Their role will extend to promoting safe, responsible behaviour online while supporting awareness of digital government services in engaging and relatable formats.
Plans are underway to develop integrated communication identities for each family member. This will include educational and entertaining storytelling designed for different age groups, reinforcing the UAE’s digital transformation journey through a family-centred, community-driven approach.
