Wicked the musical to make Dubai debut
Broadway Entertainment Group celebrates 15 years by staging iconic theatrical hit
DUBAI – Broadway Entertainment Group and Dubai Opera have announced the arrival of the smash-hit musical Wicked, which will make its Dubai debut at Dubai Opera from 28 January 2026 to 15 February 2026.
This marks the very first time that the celebrated production will be performed in Dubai, bringing its spellbinding story and reimagined staging to audiences in the region. The show will feature bold new visuals, fresh costumes and an extraordinary moment where a witch soars over the audience – a first for any Wicked production worldwide.
Global phenomenon
Since its original premiere on Broadway, Wicked has become one of the most popular musicals in the world, seen by more than 65 million audience members across over 130 cities in 16 countries. The reimagined production heading to Dubai will feature more than 100 performers, musicians and crew, supported by over 350 intricate costumes, spectacular sets and beloved songs including Defying Gravity, Popular and For Good.
The musical tells the untold story of the witches of Oz, following the journey of two extraordinary young women whose friendship transforms into a dramatic rivalry. Their paths eventually lead to their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Internationally produced by Dubai-based Broadway Entertainment Group, the production reflects the company’s continued mission to bring world-class theatre to the Middle East.
15-year milestone
For Broadway Entertainment Group, Wicked coincides with a major milestone – its 15th anniversary in Dubai. The debut is the culmination of a five-year effort to secure the musical for the region. Liz Koops, Producer and CEO of Broadway Entertainment Group, expressed pride in presenting what she described as “a history-in-the-making moment,” celebrating both the company’s anniversary and the arrival of a globally iconic production.

Composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz also welcomed the news, noting that the new staging adds vitality and creativity while continuing to tell a universal story of friendship, love and courage.
Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera, highlighted the production as a landmark in the venue’s commitment to cultural excellence. He said that hosting Wicked reinforces Dubai’s standing as a regional hub for world-class live entertainment.
Wicked’s debut in Dubai
The Dubai debut of Wicked is presented in partnership with Dubai Calendar and supported by sponsors AMEX and Arabian Radio Network’s Dubai 92. The show follows a long legacy of success, including a multi-platinum, Grammy-winning Broadway cast recording and a blockbuster movie adaptation starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The film grossed more than $750 million globally and drew in over 70 million viewers.
