Pair taken to hospital with lacerations following terrifying accident in Houston
DUBAI – Two food influencers captured the moment they were injured when a car slammed into a Houston restaurant as they filmed a review.
Patrick Blackwood and Nina Santiago, known for their YouTube channel Unrated EX Files, were recording at CuVee’s Culinary Creations when the crash occurred over the last weekend.
Video from their camera shows the glass window shattering beside their booth.
Blackwood, seated closest to the window, was showered with glass, while Santiago was thrown from the booth onto her knees as the impact pushed the window frame into their table.
How did the car crash into the restaurant?
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the female driver believed she had parked her car, but it rolled forward when she removed her foot from the brake. The vehicle struck the side of the building, breaking through the restaurant’s glass.
In a statement, the restaurant said: “The chef, influencers, guests, and staff were all blessed to not be severely harmed. We appreciate the love and support.”
How did the influencers respond?
Blackwood and Santiago later posted their experience, showing clips from the ambulance and hospital. Blackwood, with glass still falling from his clothes, said: “I’m OK now; heart rate’s regulated. The realisation just hit … I’m glad I’m alive.”
Santiago, who needed stitches for cuts on her face and hands, shared: “This is the second accident this month. The fact that we walked away from both … maybe I want to break down and cry, but I just can’t.”
In an emotional moment, the pair revisited CuVee’s Culinary Creations after the incident. Santiago said her heart was racing but she wanted to “deal with my PTSD sooner rather than later” while praising the food.
Photos later posted online showed Blackwood with a stitched jaw laceration and Santiago with cuts closed by staples. Santiago wrote: “This experience showed me who truly matters; life’s too short for grudges or anger.”
