DUBAIGulfood, the world’s largest and most influential food and beverage sourcing event, has launched Gulfood Startups, a dedicated platform supporting high-growth food-tech companies seeking to scale internationally from Dubai.

With the global food economy projected to reach USD 11.37 trillion by 2030, startups are increasingly driving innovation across production, processing, and distribution, reshaping how food is produced and commercialised.

Over 250 global visionaries will present breakthroughs across the food chain, from origin to market. Innovations include next-generation proteins, precision fermentation, Plant-Based 3.0, water-based frying technologies, predictive food intelligence powered by AI, and automated supply-chain systems. Industry disruptors such as ANT Systems Nanotechnology, Brad Technology, Choco, Onego Bio, Polysense, and ZEEN Tech AG are set to redefine the boundaries of food and technology.

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President – Events Management at Dubai World Trade Centre, said, “Gulfood Startups offers founders something few markets can: direct access to global buyers, investors, distributors and policymakers in a single, connected environment.” She added that the World Agri-FoodTech Startup Challenge features the largest prize fund of its kind, highlighting Dubai World Trade Centre’s commitment to accelerating meaningful commercial growth across the Gulf.

World Agri-FoodTech Challenge

Through a collaboration with DMCC and the India Middle East Agri-Alliance (IMEAA), startups will compete live at the Gulfood NXT Stage for a USD 135,000 prize. The three-day competition will judge participants on innovation, scalability, market relevance, and environmental and economic impact.

Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said, “Through our partnership with Gulfood, we are connecting high-potential startups from across the global food value chain with international markets, investors and commercial partners.” He emphasised that Dubai offers a clear path to scale solutions from next-generation proteins to AI-powered food intelligence and advanced supply chain technologies.

Sudhakar Tomar, President of IMEAA, added that the challenge is establishing a reliable deal-flow engine for founders, venture funds, and institutions seeking viable solutions, encouraging global entrepreneurs to embrace Dubai as their launchpad and the Global South as their growth market.

Gulfood Investor Programme

The Gulfood Investor Programme will provide privileged access to high-impact startups, cutting-edge technologies, and actionable insights spanning the entire food chain. Investors participating include Americana, Nuwa Capital, PeakBridge, and Unovis. This initiative connects visionary capital with emerging breakthroughs, helping ensure innovative solutions gain traction on the global stage.

UAE as innovation hub

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as a highly attractive environment for food and beverage startups. Its market is projected to reach USD 44 billion by 2029, supported by rapid population growth, strong consumer demand, progressive regulation, and government investment in food security, innovation, and sustainability.

World-class logistics infrastructure, access to capital, free-zone ecosystems, and a rapidly digitising food supply chain make the UAE a natural bridge between East and West, developed and emerging markets, and innovation and commercialisation.

Gulfood Startups will take place from 26th to 30th January as part of Gulfood 2026 in Dubai, providing a unique global stage for founders and investors to scale the next generation of food innovation.
