New rule: Abu Dhabi bans jet skis in Saadiyat Island marine zone
Violations could lead to legal action under marine regulations
ABU DHABI – Abu Dhabi Maritime has issued a warning to jet ski users operating around Saadiyat Island, reminding them that the area is a protected marine zone where motorised vessels are prohibited.
The authority said riders must immediately stop using jet skis in the restricted location and comply with the emirate’s maritime regulations. Violations will lead to necessary legal action against those who fail to follow the instructions.
The notice comes as Abu Dhabi continues to regulate activities across its waters, including areas in the Al Dhafra Region. Under the latest maritime guidance, fishing and pleasure boat activities are permitted only within Abu Dhabi’s territorial waters, up to 12 nautical miles from the coastline, without time restrictions.
Water rules
Jet ski users are allowed to operate only in designated areas and until sunset. Authorities have also reminded all waterway users to maintain safe distances from restricted zones, oil facilities and oil fields, while avoiding entry into protected marine areas.
