UAE weather: Here’s what to expect each day this week
NCM expects changing conditions across land and coastal regions
DUBAI – Fair skies may dominate the UAE this week, but the forecast comes with a catch: dusty spells, shifting temperatures and bursts of active winds are expected to shape weather conditions across the country until 24th May.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), residents can expect changing conditions day by day, with winds reaching up to 40km/h and sea conditions moving between calm and rough waters.
The UAE remains under the influence of a weak surface low-pressure system extending from the east and a high-pressure system from the west, accompanied by an upper-air ridge. The result is a weather pattern that brings mostly fair conditions but also periods of haze and blowing dust, particularly during daytime hours.
Wednesday
The middle of the week begins with generally fair weather, although daytime conditions are expected to turn dusty in some areas. Temperatures are set for a slight increase, with coastal and internal regions forecast to record highs between 43°C and 45°C. Mountain areas are expected to remain cooler, with temperatures ranging from 29°C to 34°C.
Northwesterly to Southwesterly winds will blow at speeds of 10 to 25km/h, strengthening at times to 40km/h and stirring dust across exposed areas.
Marine conditions are also expected to shift through the day. The Arabian Gulf will move from moderate seas in the morning to rough conditions later on, while the Oman Sea is forecast to become rough by evening.
Thursday
Thursday is expected to bring a slight drop in temperatures, offering a brief change in the pattern. Conditions will remain generally fair, though dusty weather is likely to continue at times.
Winds will shift between Northwesterly and Southeasterly directions at 10 to 25km/h, with gusts again reaching 40km/h and causing blowing dust. Sea conditions in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea are forecast to remain rough to moderate.
Friday
Temperatures are expected to edge upward once more on Friday, while fair weather continues across the country. Dusty spells may develop during daytime hours, particularly in open areas.
Southwesterly to Northwesterly winds are forecast at 10 to 25km/h, freshening occasionally and reaching up to 35km/h. Sea conditions are expected to improve compared with earlier in the week, becoming slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
Saturday
A fresh temperature dip is expected on Saturday, although dusty conditions are likely to remain part of the forecast. Winds from the Northwesterly to Southwesterly direction may once again strengthen to 40km/h, creating periods of blowing dust and sand.
The Arabian Gulf is expected to become moderate to rough, while the Oman Sea will remain slight to moderate.
Sunday
The final day of the forecast period could bring a slight change in scenery, with fair to partly cloudy conditions expected at times. Low clouds are also forecast to appear eastward.
Winds will continue at 10 to 25km/h and could strengthen to 40km/h. The Arabian Gulf is forecast to be rough westward during the morning before gradually easing to moderate and slight conditions later in the day, while the Oman Sea will remain moderate to slight.
