Dubai gold steady at Dh577 amid global dip
Precious metals mixed with silver declining alongside gold
DUBAI – Dubai gold rates remain unchanged at the start of the week, with prices holding firm across all karats.
The latest figures released by the Dubai Jewellery Group show no movement compared to the previous day, reflecting a pause in local retail pricing despite global fluctuations.
Investors and buyers are closely tracking international developments, particularly geopolitical signals and currency movements, which continue to influence bullion trends.
Dubai gold rates
As of Tuesday, April 21, retail gold prices in Dubai are unchanged. The 24K rate stands at Dh577.00 per gram, while 22K is at Dh534.25, 21K at Dh512.25, 18K at Dh439.00, and 14K at Dh342.50.
These rates are identical to Monday’s levels, indicating stability in the local market. The lack of change comes despite volatility in global bullion markets, suggesting retailers are maintaining price consistency for consumers at the start of the trading week.
Global trends
Internationally, gold prices have edged lower. Spot gold fell 0.7% to $4,784.37 per ounce, extending losses from the previous session, while US gold futures slipped 0.5% to $4,803.50.
The decline comes as investors await clarity on potential talks between the United States and Iran. Reports indicate Tehran is considering participation in discussions hosted in Pakistan, raising expectations of a possible extension to the ceasefire or broader diplomatic progress. At the same time, the US dollar has strengthened slightly, making dollar-priced commodities such as gold more expensive for other currency holders.
Developments tied to Donald Trump, including a Senate hearing for a Federal Reserve nominee, are also being monitored for signals on monetary policy direction. Meanwhile, oil prices have softened amid expectations that negotiations could ease supply constraints in the Middle East, including around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Lower oil prices may reduce inflationary pressure, influencing gold’s role as a hedge.
Other precious metals
Across the broader precious metals market, silver recorded sharper losses. Spot silver dropped 1.4% to $78.80 per ounce, tracking gold’s decline but with greater volatility.
Platinum also weakened, falling 0.8% to $2,072.22, while palladium edged down 0.3% to $1,547.25.
