DUBAI – The London- and Zurich-based interior design firm Studio WYZE has unveiled the interiors of TATTU Dubai, Permanently Unique Group’s latest venture and the brand’s first international destination beyond the United Kingdom.

Nestled within the record-breaking Ciel Tower Dubai Marina, which rises 365 metres into the skyline, the project encompasses a restaurant and bar, the world’s highest infinity pool, and a sky lounge and terrace.

Each level of TATTU Dubai draws inspiration from ancient mythological creatures, weaving a symbolic narrative that defines its distinctive spaces. From the poised elegance of the dragon to the serene grace of the carp and the fiery rebirth of the phoenix, Studio WYZE has created a seamless blend of artistry, storytelling, and elevated dining. Guests entering the venue are greeted by a triple-height atrium, a modern reinterpretation of a traditional Chinese courtyard, anchored by the brand’s iconic cherry blossom tree that crowns the main reception.

Flanking the central atrium, dedicated reception areas lead visitors to three immersive levels designed to capture Dubai Marina’s panoramic beauty and The Palm’s sunsets. Two private dining rooms offer exclusivity and intimacy, completing the sense of theatre and transformation that defines the TATTU experience.

What defines the design?

On the 74th floor, TATTU Restaurant & Bar unfolds as a richly atmospheric space inspired by the legendary black and white dragons. Reflecting the duality of Yin and Yang, the interiors contrast darkness and light with commanding sophistication. The Black Dragon Dining Room features a ceiling sculpted to resemble a dragon in motion, with flowing organic shapes mirrored along the walls and columns.

The adjoining White Dragon Sunset Lounge embodies balance, pairing its counterpart’s bold energy with soothing textures and a lighter palette. The space allows guests to enjoy sweeping views over Dubai Marina, The Palm Jumeirah, and beyond, while savouring modern Asian cuisine – a signature of the TATTU brand that fuses traditional Chinese flavours with innovative presentation.

Studio WYZE Co-founder and Principal Chris Sayce describes the design ethos: “The restaurant adopts a strikingly moody palette – featuring Shou-Sugi-Ban charred Japanese cedar, richly veined marble, amethyst glass, and custom wallpapers – materials that reflect the depth of the black dragon. In contrast, the bar is shaped by the white dragon’s influence, with a lighter palette of white-washed timber, onyx, mirror and pewter.”

The private dining room continues this narrative of contrast with lacquered timber panels, fretwork details, and a centrepiece dining table crafted from cut Avalanche Quartzite. Oversized hanging lanterns and skyline views of The Palm merge modern craftsmanship with cultural symbolism, resulting in a setting both elegant and intimate.

TATTU Sky Pool

Ascending to Level 76, guests discover the TATTU Sky Pool – now recognised as the world’s highest infinity pool. Here, the design takes inspiration from the carp, symbolising perseverance and transformation. Studio WYZE has translated this symbolism into fluid forms and a palette of aqua tones, glazed ceramics, rattan, and off-white fabrics.

The TATTU Sky Pool Restaurant, serving a refined Japanese-fusion menu, offers a tranquil daytime retreat that evokes a floating oasis above the city. The exterior design remains cohesive, anchored by a circular DJ booth and a feature cocktail bar that reflect TATTU’s signature approach to blending dining, music, and atmosphere. Surrounded by lush greenery and soft fabrics, the terrace provides a serene yet sophisticated escape from the energy of the Marina below.

This level represents the balance between movement and stillness – a visual and sensory interpretation of water, reflection, and flow. The textures and tones are chosen to mirror the shimmering hues of the pool itself, while subtle design elements guide the eye outward toward the horizon.

How does the experience reach its peak?

At the summit, Level 81 crowns the journey with the TATTU Sky Lounge & Terrace, inspired by the phoenix. This transformation of myth into space delivers a breathtaking experience, transitioning from elegant daytime cocktails to a vibrant nightclub setting after sunset.

Studio WYZE has designed a rising birdcage ceiling that curves dramatically inward, converging above a central backlit pink onyx bar – a sculptural beacon that glows softly against the city lights. The 360-degree air-conditioned terrace offers sweeping views of Dubai’s skyline, providing an extraordinary vantage point above the Marina and the Arabian Gulf.

Studio WYZE Co-founder and Principal Christina Arbenz describes the final ascent of the journey: “Guests are greeted with a vibrant colour palette, tactile fabric-fronted bar, rich textural carpets, and heavily veined marbles that infuse the space with energy and personality. From the lively interior, guests flow into the wraparound terrace – a surreal rooftop orangery framed by Jurassic-style planting and plush seating.”

The phoenix motif continues into the landscaping and lighting, symbolising renewal and celebration. The immersive environment ensures that the transition from day to night is not merely visual but experiential – each shift in light, sound, and rhythm transforming the atmosphere from serene to electric.

What sets Studio WYZE apart?

Founded in 2024 by Chris Sayce and Christina Arbenz, Studio WYZE operates from London and Zurich, working globally across the hospitality, residential, and product design sectors. The firm’s ethos – to trust intuition, find beauty in the unexpected, and never lose sight of the creative – underpins each of its projects.

With a combined experience spanning over 30 years, both founders have collaborated with prestigious names such as Rosewood Hotels, Mandarin Oriental, and Daniel Boulud. Their portfolio extends to large-scale developments including Las Vegas Sands Group and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

When did TATTU begin its journey?

The TATTU brand was founded in Manchester in 2015 by brothers Adam and Drew Jones, under the Permanently Unique Group. Since then, it has expanded across major UK cities including London, Leeds, Birmingham, and Edinburgh. The Dubai location, developed in partnership with Studio WYZE, marks the group’s first international expansion and its most ambitious project to date.

Permanently Unique Group also operates FENIX, a concept rooted in modern Greek-Mediterranean cuisine inspired by the mythical firebird, and LOUIS, a sophisticated homage to 1950s New York Italian-American dining accompanied by live music.

With TATTU Dubai, the group extends its philosophy of blending culinary artistry with design innovation – each venue offering a unique fusion of cultural narrative and hospitality excellence.

Perched high above Dubai Marina, TATTU Dubai redefines dining among the clouds. Each level – from the dragon’s den to the carp’s sanctuary and the phoenix’s nest – embodies a distinct rhythm and energy. In the hands of Studio WYZE, these mythical creatures have been transformed into living environments that shimmer with symbolism, craftsmanship, and spectacle.
