Dubai Police launch back-to-school plan with patrols, drones and awareness drives
Over 750 police personnel to engage with students across the emirate
DUBAI – Dubai Police, through its “School Security” initiative, has unveiled a comprehensive safety and awareness plan to mark the return of students to classrooms for the 2025–2026 academic year, wishing pupils, teachers, administrators and parents a successful start to the school year.
This year’s measures include the deployment of 250 security and traffic patrols to secure school zones, supported by nine drones to monitor traffic flow and vital sites. Six luxury patrol cars, four mounted police units and 60 bicycles will strengthen field presence.
The initiative also features 300 children participating in the “Safety Ambassadors” programme, alongside 28 awareness programmes in collaboration with 15 partner organisations. More than 750 senior officers and police personnel will directly engage with students.
How will it work?
The details were unveiled during a press conference at the Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, attended by Brigadier Nasser Al Zarri, Acting Director of Dubai Police Academy; Dr Brigadier Abdulrahman Al Maamari, Secretary-General of Hemaya Council; Lieutenant Colonel Dr Ali Al Matroushi, Director of Child and Women Protection at the General Department of Human Rights; Captain Majid bin Saaed Al Kaabi, Head of the “School Security” initiative; Fatima Buhjair, Chairwoman of the Positive Spirit Council; along with school principals and senior officers.
Dr Brigadier Al Maamari highlighted that under the directives of Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the force is working to create a safer and more interactive learning environment. Field teams will visit 71 schools, including Hemaya schools, to engage with students and parents while raising awareness on security and community matters.
He noted that Hemaya Council oversees a range of initiatives such as the Hemaya International Centre, the Positive Spirit Council, the School Security initiative, the Safety Ambassadors programme and the Naseej initiative. These efforts aim to integrate community and security roles, instilling discipline and awareness among students and supporting the development of a positive, resilient generation.
Brigadier Dr Al Maamari praised the joint collaboration of government and private entities in preparing for the new school year, underlining their commitment to ensuring student safety.
What activities are planned?
Captain Majid bin Saaed Al Kaabi explained that the initiative strengthens school security by collaborating with teaching and administrative staff, addressing emerging behaviours, and building trust between students, parents and the police through lectures and awareness activities.
He said that 18 activities will be held, ranging from road safety guidance to encouraging children to cross only at designated pedestrian zones. Students will also be introduced to Dubai Police’s services and communication channels. Entertainment events featuring the police mascot “Mansour”, alongside the distribution of gifts and school supplies, are also planned.
Captain Al Kaabi stressed that “the safety of our children is a shared responsibility”, urging families, schools and the police to work closely to provide a secure and motivating educational environment.
