Etihad Guest and Bangkok Airways unveil new cross-programme loyalty partnership
Miles redemption opens new holiday destinations and experiences
ABU DHABI – Etihad Guest, the loyalty programme of Etihad Airways, has entered a new frequent flyer partnership with Bangkok Airways’ FlyerBonus scheme, strengthening travel links between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
The agreement allows members of both programmes to redeem points and miles across each airline’s network, widening access to a broader range of destinations.
Travellers can now explore popular leisure hotspots in Thailand and beyond while using rewards earned from either carrier. The collaboration comes as Etihad continues to expand its footprint across Asia and enhance its loyalty offering for frequent flyers.
Loyalty expansion
The partnership enables Etihad Guest members to redeem miles on Bangkok Airways-operated routes across Thailand and neighbouring regions.
Destinations now accessible include Samui, Luang Prabang and Siem Reap, strengthening leisure travel options across Southeast Asia. In return, FlyerBonus members gain access to Etihad’s growing international network, with redemption opportunities to destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Krakow and Salalah via Abu Dhabi.

The arrangement reflects a broader strategy to deepen connectivity between regional boutique carriers and a global hub airline model. Etihad Guest Miles can also be used for cabin upgrades, hotel stays, holidays and shopping through its Reward Shop, adding further flexibility for members seeking tailored travel experiences.
Redemption reach
Etihad Guest Managing Director Mark Potter said the collaboration enhances value for members by expanding opportunities to redeem miles across an increasingly diverse network. He highlighted Thailand as one of the airline’s most in-demand markets, noting that the partnership enables smoother access to high-demand leisure destinations.
From Bangkok Airways’ perspective, Vice President Sales and Marketing Amornrat Kongsawat emphasised the importance of offering members wider global reach while maintaining the airline’s boutique service identity.
The agreement allows FlyerBonus members to connect more seamlessly to Europe, the Middle East and beyond via Abu Dhabi, positioning both programmes as complementary gateways for international travel.
The partnership also aligns with Etihad’s continued expansion across Southeast Asia, where new destinations have recently been added to its network, further strengthening regional accessibility.
Fleet upgrade
The announcement coincides with Etihad’s continued network growth across Southeast Asia, where it has recently launched routes to Krabi, Chiang Mai, Phnom Penh, Hanoi and Hong Kong. The airline currently operates direct flights from Abu Dhabi to four Thai destinations: Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai.
Bangkok remains a key market, with six daily flights reinforcing strong demand on the route. From October, Etihad will introduce its flagship A380 aircraft on the evening service to Bangkok, significantly increasing capacity ahead of the peak winter travel period. The aircraft will feature premium cabins including The Residence, private First suites, lie-flat Business seats with direct aisle access and upgraded Economy seating designed for enhanced comfort.
The move is expected to improve connectivity between Southeast Asia, Abu Dhabi and wider global destinations while supporting growing demand for leisure travel between the regions.
