Global bullion

In global trade, gold eased as the dollar strengthened yesterday. Spot gold was down 0.3% at $3,329.19 per ounce by 0607 GMT, while US gold futures for December slipped 0.3% to $3,372.10. The US dollar index held near a two-week peak, weighing on demand for bullion from international buyers.

Economic and geopolitical factors continue to influence sentiment. US jobless claims rose last week at the fastest pace in nearly three months, following a previous week when unemployment filings hit a four-year high. Inflation concerns remain heightened, with additional pressure from new tariff measures in the United States.

Geopolitical risks also linger. Reports suggest Russia is pushing Ukraine to concede the Donbas region, drop NATO membership ambitions, and block Western troop deployments in any potential peace deal.

Other precious metals posted mixed movement: silver declined 0.4% to $38.01 per ounce, platinum fell 0.6% to $1,345.06, while palladium edged up 0.2% to $1,113.19.
