DUBAIflydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, has announced that applications are now open for its newly launched Flight Dispatcher Programme aimed at Emirati talent.

The initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year with Emirates Aviation University (EAU) and is designed to prepare UAE nationals for careers in flight operations. The first intake of candidates is scheduled to begin training in September 2026.

The programme forms part of flydubai’s efforts to strengthen its skilled workforce, support its fleet and network expansion plans and contribute to the UAE’s wider human capital development goals. It also creates new opportunities for Emirati candidates with no previous aviation experience to enter the industry through a structured training pathway.

Training path

Under the partnership with Emirates Aviation University, selected candidates will complete the Flight Dispatcher Initial Course (FDIC) at the university in Dubai. The 10-week programme is approved by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) under CAR Part II and is designed to prepare trainees for the requirements of a flight dispatcher licence.

The course covers key aviation disciplines, including aviation law, meteorology, navigation, aircraft performance, weight and balance, human factors and flight planning. It also focuses on the operational relationship between flight dispatchers and pilots, helping trainees understand the coordination required to support safe and efficient flight operations.

Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, said the partnership with Emirates Aviation University supports the airline’s focus on developing national talent and investing in future aviation professionals.

“We are proud of our partnership with Emirates Aviation University. Developing national talent and investing in our people is vital to flydubai’s growth strategy,” he said. “This programme not only supports our internal training and succession planning, but also contributes to national development goals by creating meaningful job opportunities and building a sustainable pool of future aviation professionals, including flight dispatchers, engineers and pilots.”

Flight Dispatcher Programme

UAE nationals holding a high school diploma and aged under 24 years are eligible to apply for the programme. The intensive course will provide trainees with the technical knowledge needed to prepare for the GCAA examinations.

Following successful completion of the academic and practical phases, graduates will receive a Certificate of Course Completion, allowing them to progress towards obtaining their official flight dispatcher licence and pursuing a permanent career within flydubai’s expanding flight operations division.

Professor Ahmad Al Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University, said the programme represents a further step in the partnership between the university and flydubai to develop skilled Emirati professionals for the aviation sector.

He said the initiative reflects the commitment to building a future-ready UAE national workforce within flight operations and training the next generation of aviation professionals who will support the country’s aviation industry.

Future talent

The Flight Dispatcher Programme adds to flydubai’s wider initiatives focused on developing aviation capabilities in the UAE. The carrier’s talent development ecosystem includes the Ab Initio Pilot Training (MPL) programme, the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship, as well as corporate internship and work placement opportunities.

Through these programmes, flydubai continues to expand pathways for UAE nationals across different aviation fields as the airline prepares for future growth. Interested Emirati candidates can submit applications through the official flydubai Careers portal.
