Photography contest opens as part of 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship
DUBAI – Tomorrow, the 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship will host its much-anticipated Women’s Race, bringing together elite female cyclists from around the world.
Organised by The Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, the Championship celebrates ‘Ten Years of Achievements and Success’.
The event highlights Dubai’s commitment to empowering women in sports while showcasing world-class cycling talent.
Record prize
The Women’s Race will feature a total prize purse of Dh460,000, the largest in the world for competitions of its kind. His Excellency Omair bin Juma Al Falasi, Director General of The Private Office and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee, emphasised that this significant allocation recognises excellence and motivates participants to deliver peak performances.
93-kilometre route
Cyclists will tackle a 93-kilometre route through Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve in Saih Al Salam, one of Dubai’s premier destinations for cycling and outdoor activities. Starting in front of Al Qudra Village, the course passes through natural and heritage landmarks, offering a unique desert landscape and highlighting Dubai’s sustainability initiatives.
Al Marmoom, one of the world’s largest desert conservation reserves, is home to rare flora and fauna, providing a striking backdrop for both participants and spectators.
10th Al Salam Cycling Championship
Tomorrow’s race marks the third event of the 10th Championship season. The season opened with the Emirati Men’s Amateur Race, conducted under the theme ‘Security and Safety’ in collaboration with Dubai Police, followed by the HH The Ruler of Dubai Court Race, which welcomed professional cyclists from various countries.
The Championship continues with the Desert Women’s Race on 31 January and concludes with the Desert Men’s Race on 1 February, cementing its reputation as a hub for innovation and sporting excellence.
The Al Salam Cycling Championship operates in cooperation with multiple partners, including Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Sports Council, Government of Dubai Media Office, Dubai Sports Channel, UAE Cycling Federation, and Dubai Film. This collaboration ensures smooth operations and highlights Dubai’s ongoing support for world-class sporting events.
Photography contest
In addition to the competition, a photography contest has opened in collaboration with the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award. Winners will be announced at the end of the Championship season, offering participants an opportunity to showcase the race through a creative lens.
