Global backdrop
Internationally, gold markets remained volatile as prices touched record highs. Spot gold climbed to $4,530.60 per ounce, supported by speculative buying, expectations of further US rate cuts and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
In India, domestic prices surged to a record 139,286 rupees per 10 grams, dampening retail demand and widening local discounts. In contrast, China saw discounts narrow sharply, supported by speculative activity, constrained supply and a firmer yuan, while Singapore traded at modest premiums.
