Dubai Police warn against teen motorcycle riding in residential areas
Incidents increase after Iftar in family-heavy neighbourhoods
DUBAI – Dubai Police have issued a warning about the growing trend of teenagers riding motorcycles in residential areas, particularly during Ramadan and in the hours following Iftar.
Major General Saif Mueir Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, highlighted the serious safety risks posed to both young riders and other residents. He also emphasised the disturbance caused to families and the public’s peace.
According to Major General Al Mazrouei, many teenagers ride motorised and recreational bikes in internal streets and housing compounds without understanding the dangers or adhering to safety regulations. This behaviour exposes them to potential collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, or children, especially in family-oriented zones with high foot traffic.
Legal measures
The officer clarified that such conduct is a legal violation and poses a direct threat to road safety. Traffic patrols have increased monitoring in residential areas, stopping offenders, confiscating motorcycles, filing police reports, and summoning parents. Legal action is taken to protect both the youths and other road users.
Community role
Dubai Police have called on parents to actively supervise their children and prevent them from riding motorcycles in public or residential areas. The public is encouraged to report unsafe behaviour via the “Kulna Police” hotline at 901 or the “Ain Al Shurta” feature on the Dubai Police app.
Major General Al Mazrouei emphasised that responsible driving begins at home, and community awareness plays a crucial role in maintaining safe and peaceful neighbourhoods.
