Weather alert: UAE to see foggy mornings, temperature swings and possible rain until Saturday
Morning humidity to affect inland and coastal visibility
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set for a stretch of humid mornings, fog formation and fluctuating temperatures through to Saturday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Conditions are expected to vary across inland, coastal and sea areas, with low clouds and chances of light rainfall at times. Wind activity and sea conditions are also forecast to intensify later in the week.
Humidity levels will remain high during early hours over several inland and coastal locations, increasing the probability of fog or light fog, particularly from tomorrow until 31 January. Visibility may reduce in affected areas during the mornings before skies gradually clear.
Early conditions
Tomorrow will begin with humid weather across parts of the country, especially inland and coastal zones, where fog or light fog may develop. As the day progresses, conditions will turn generally fair to partly cloudy. Low clouds are expected over eastern areas, with a chance of light rainfall during the morning.
Winds will blow north-westerly, shifting to south-easterly, at light to moderate speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally becoming active and reaching 35 km/h. The Arabian Gulf will be moderate to slight, while the Sea of Oman will remain slight.
On Wednesday, morning humidity will continue, with fog or light fog likely over inland and coastal regions, particularly in western areas. Skies will again turn fair to partly cloudy later, with low cloud cover developing over eastern and northern parts of the country. Winds will be south-easterly to north-easterly at similar speeds, and seas will remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Midweek shift
Thursday will bring another humid start, with possible light fog in some coastal areas. Weather conditions will gradually become fair to partly cloudy, though cloud cover may build at times over coastal and northern areas. There is a chance of light rainfall during the night.
Temperatures are forecast to rise gradually on Thursday. Winds will shift south-westerly to north-westerly at 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally freshening to 35 km/h. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate, turning rough westward late at night in the Arabian Gulf, while the Sea of Oman remains slight.
Cooling trend
A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected on Friday. The morning will start humid over some inland areas before skies turn fair to partly cloudy. Cloud development is possible during the day over northern and eastern regions, bringing a chance of rainfall.
Winds will strengthen, blowing south-westerly to north-westerly at 10 to 30 km/h, with gusts up to 40 km/h, especially over the sea. The Arabian Gulf will be rough, while the Sea of Oman will be slight to moderate, becoming rough at night.
Weekend outlook
By Saturday, humid morning conditions will persist, with fog or light fog possible over inland areas. Weather will then become fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds over some coastal and northern regions.
North-westerly winds will range between 10 and 25 km/h, occasionally reaching 40 km/h. Sea conditions are forecast to be moderate to rough in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, indicating continued unsettled marine conditions heading into the weekend.
