UAE-Hungary travel: flydubai reconnects Dubai and Budapest
Direct service returns after suspension with three weekly flights initially
DUBAI – flydubai will resume direct flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) from July 31, restoring non-stop connectivity between the UAE and Hungary.
The Dubai-based airline said the service will initially operate three times a week before expanding to daily flights from October 25 to meet growing travel demand during the autumn and winter seasons. The route also strengthens Dubai's role as a major international aviation hub, while offering passengers access to more than 120 destinations across flydubai's expanding network.
The reinstated service is expected to cater to leisure travellers, business passengers and those visiting friends and relatives, particularly during the busy summer period. Through its partnership with Emirates, customers will also benefit from seamless onward connections on a single itinerary.
Dubai-Budapest flights
The return of the Budapest route marks another step in flydubai's continued expansion across Central and Eastern Europe, where the airline has steadily grown its presence since launching services to the Hungarian capital in 2021.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said the resumption reflects the airline's long-term commitment to Hungary and highlights the strengthening economic and cultural relationship between the two countries.
He described Budapest as one of flydubai's key European markets, adding that reconnecting the Hungarian capital with Dubai will provide travellers with greater choice while reinforcing Dubai's position as a global centre for business, trade and tourism.
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said the restored route would create fresh opportunities for both tourism and trade as the busy autumn and winter travel season approaches.
He added that the Emirates codeshare partnership enables passengers and travel partners to benefit from integrated itineraries, smoother transfers and access to an extensive combined network spanning the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Southeast Asia.
Flight details
Passengers travelling on the Budapest route will fly aboard flydubai's modern Boeing 737 fleet.
Business Class passengers will have access to lie-flat seats, premium dining and personalised onboard service, while Economy Class offers ergonomically designed seating, meals, snacks and beverages throughout the journey. The aircraft are also equipped with Full HD touchscreen entertainment systems featuring hundreds of hours of movies, television programmes, games and audio content.
The Budapest route will operate under the flydubai and Emirates codeshare agreement, allowing customers to travel on a single ticket with through-checked baggage across both airlines' networks. Members of Emirates Skywards can also earn and redeem miles across both carriers through the shared loyalty programme.
From July 31, flights will operate every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport. The schedule will increase to daily services from October 25, providing greater flexibility for passengers and travel partners.
Return Business Class fares from Dubai start from Dh15,585, while Economy Class fares begin at Dh2,987. From Budapest, return Business Class fares start from HUF 802,400, while Economy Class fares start from HUF 182,900.
Tickets are available through flydubai's website and mobile app, the airline's UAE contact centre, flydubai travel shops and authorised travel partners. Passengers can also view the latest flight schedules through the airline's online timetable.
Global connections
For travellers departing from Hungary, the restored service provides direct access to Dubai's shopping, entertainment, attractions, family experiences and year-round calendar of events. The city also serves as a convenient stopover destination before passengers continue to other international locations.
The Budapest service will also connect travellers through Dubai to destinations across flydubai's network, including Kenya, the Maldives, Oman, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The route resumes shortly after flydubai launched services to Aleppo in Syria, Bangkok in Thailand and Benghazi in Libya. The airline is also preparing to expand its network further with the launch of flights to Pokhara in Nepal from September 23.
