ABU DHABI – The Louvre Abu Dhabi has launched a new Museum Curriculum Portal, designed to bring its globally recognised collection directly into classrooms across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The initiative forms part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi’s broader curriculum mapping strategy, aimed at strengthening links between cultural institutions and formal education. Cultural sites across the emirate are expected to roll out similar programmes aligning their collections with school curricula.
Developed to support teachers across all three educational cycles, the portal enables seamless integration of museum content into subjects ranging from mathematics and science to languages, history and the arts. Endorsed by the Ministry of Education, the platform promotes critical thinking, cultural awareness and hands-on engagement with real-world artefacts.
Portal features
Created by the museum’s Education and Learning Resources Department, the portal maps more than 148 artworks and artefacts. This includes 113 pieces from the permanent collection and 35 on loan from local and international partners. Each item is aligned with curriculum requirements, incorporating both national and international frameworks while reflecting the UAE National Identity agenda.
Teachers can browse an extensive database of artworks, each accompanied by detailed descriptions, scientific labels and contextual information. Content is organised using curriculum topics and keywords, enabling educators to locate relevant resources efficiently. The platform also provides exact gallery locations for each object, encouraging classroom-to-museum continuity through planned visits.
The integration of these resources allows teachers to connect theoretical concepts with tangible cultural examples. By linking lessons to real artefacts, the portal enhances student engagement while fostering a deeper understanding of global heritage.
How to register
Teachers can register their interest in accessing the Museum Curriculum Portal through an official online form or by contacting the museum directly via email. Once registered, educators may be invited to attend dedicated training sessions designed to guide them through the platform’s features and applications.
Each training session is limited to 30 participants to maintain an interactive learning environment. Registration closes once capacity is reached, making early sign-up essential for those seeking immediate access and onboarding support.
An Arabic-language version of the portal is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2026, alongside additional training sessions tailored for Arabic-speaking educators.

The sessions are structured to ensure educators can confidently apply the resources, bridging the gap between classroom theory and experiential learning within the museum environment.
