DUBAI – India pulled off a dramatic victory over Sri Lanka in the final Super Four clash of the T20 Asia Cup 2025, winning in a super over decider at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The thriller saw both teams locked at 202 runs after 20 overs, before Sri Lanka faltered in the tie-breaker.

India’s innings
Put in to bat after Sri Lanka’s captain Charith Asalanka chose to field, India posted 202 for 5 in their 20 overs.
Abhishek Sharma top-scored with a blistering 61 runs. Tilak Varma anchored the innings with an unbeaten 49 off 34 balls. Sanju Samson added a quickfire 39 off 23 deliveries, while Axar Patel contributed 21 not out.
Sri Lanka’s bowling attack shared the spoils, with Theekshana, Chameera, Hasaranga, Shanaka and Asalanka each claiming one wicket apiece.
Sri Lanka’s fightback
In reply, Pathum Nissanka stole the spotlight with a superb 107, keeping Sri Lanka in contention until the closing stages. Despite his heroics, the side could only match India’s total, leaving the game tied.
The contest moved to a super over, where Sri Lanka managed a mere 2 runs. India chased it down comfortably, sealing the win and maintaining their unbeaten run in the tournament.
The result had no bearing on the standings, with India already qualified for the final after wins against Pakistan and Bangladesh. Sri Lanka, having lost both their earlier Super Four matches, were already eliminated.
This victory not only extended India’s flawless run in the Asia Cup but also strengthened Abhishek Sharma’s record-breaking campaign, as he became the highest run-scorer in a single T20 Asia Cup edition, surpassing marks set by Virat Kohli and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.
