UAE downs 20 missiles, 37 drones in latest Iranian aggression
Authorities remain vigilant amid evolving security situation
DUBAI – UAE air defence systems were activated today, intercepting a fresh barrage of aerial threats launched from Iran.
A total of 20 ballistic missiles and 37 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were engaged, as authorities confirmed continued vigilance amid the evolving security situation.
The latest response forms part of an ongoing series of interceptions since the escalation began.
Since the onset of the attacks, UAE air defences have intercepted 398 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,872 UAVs. Officials reported that systems remained fully operational, responding to each wave with coordinated precision as multiple threats approached the country’s airspace.
Casualties
The attacks have resulted in the martyrdom of two members of the armed forces while performing their national duty. A Moroccan civilian contracted by the Armed Forces was also among those killed. In addition, eight fatalities were recorded among individuals of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian and Indian nationalities.
Authorities confirmed that 178 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those affected include nationals from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India and Bangladesh, among others, highlighting the broad international community impacted.
The Ministry of Defence affirmed that it remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats and will firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the security of the country, in a manner that ensures the protection of its sovereignty, security and stability and safeguards its interests and national capabilities.
