UAE’s highest peak Jebel Jais reopens January 31 after rain-related closure

DUBAI – After a temporary closure for essential maintenance following heavy December rainfall, Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, will officially reopen on Saturday, 31st January 2026.
The mountain, a favourite for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike, had shut its doors on 23rd December to conduct safety assessments and repairs after rainfall caused standing water and shifting rocks across several areas.
Visitors eager to experience the Hajar Mountains once again will find major activities and dining options resuming in a phased approach. Officials confirmed that each area was carefully inspected before reopening to ensure safety standards are fully met.
Phased reopening
The timeline for activities is as follows:
- 31st January: Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline, and 1484 by Puro, the UAE’s highest restaurant, will resume operations.
- 7th February: Jais Sky Tour, the multi-zipline adventure, will open for guests.
- Red Rock: Remains closed as maintenance continues.
Meanwhile, the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp reopened shortly after the closure, following safety checks. Authorities emphasised that reopening would continue gradually to ensure all areas meet operational and safety requirements.
Visitor information
All visitors are now required to have a booking for activities or restaurants.
Casual visitors can purchase a Viewing Deck Park ticket for Dh 10, granting access to hiking, cycling, and leisure areas. This ticketing system ensures crowd management and preserves safety and enjoyment for all guests.

The mountain’s closure followed heavy rainfall between 17th and 19th December, which left standing water and slippery paths across several routes. Temporary road closures and essential maintenance were implemented to address these conditions. Visitors are advised not to camp in wadis during unsettled weather and to exercise caution on affected hiking and climbing trails.
Officials also reminded guests to check local conditions and dress appropriately for the peak’s cooler temperatures, which can drop to 10°C or lower despite warmer readings in nearby cities.
