UAE introduces four new visit visas, updates entry permit
New categories target AI, entertainment and tourism specialists
DUBAI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unveiled four new visit visa categories designed to attract specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships and leisure boats.
The move forms part of the country’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and tourism.
Alongside the new categories, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) announced significant amendments to the nation’s entry permit regulations. Among the key changes is the introduction of a humanitarian residence permit, valid for one year and renewable at the Authority’s discretion, subject to specific conditions.
Humanitarian Permits
The ICP also clarified that foreign widows and divorcees can now obtain a residence permit for one year, with the possibility of renewal under defined conditions. These measures aim to provide legal stability and protection for vulnerable expatriates residing in the UAE.
Family & Business Visas
Amendments also cover visit visas for friends and relatives, allowing sponsors to invite family members up to the third degree, contingent on the sponsor’s income.
In addition, a business exploration visa will be issued to individuals demonstrating financial solvency for establishing a company, ownership of a share in an existing foreign company, or proven professional practice.
Meanwhile, the truck driver visa requires the presence of a sponsor and adherence to health and financial guarantees.
Visa conditions
The ICP confirmed that each visa type will now have clearly defined durations of stay, along with outlined rules for extensions. This step ensures transparency and predictability for applicants and sponsors alike, streamlining the process for those seeking to live, work or visit the UAE.
