Emirates SkyCargo adds Bangkok to 43-strong global freighter network via Dubai
This expansion supports innovation-led ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic vision
DUBAI – Emirates SkyCargo has added Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to its dedicated freighter network, further strengthening its extensive coverage across East and Southeast Asia.
The weekly freighter service expands the cargo arm’s reach to 43 global destinations, including 11 within East and Southeast Asia.
Already operating the largest and most diverse network of any non-Asian airline, the new route offers regional customers greater flexibility to transport goods worldwide through Dubai.
Supporting Thailand’s economic vision
The new service aligns with Thailand’s ‘Thailand 4.0’ economic model, which aims to transform the country into a hub for advanced innovation and technology. With significant investment in next-generation automotive, smart electronics, robotics, and biotechnology, Thailand is fast becoming a leader in high-tech manufacturing.
Emirates SkyCargo’s widebody fleet of over 260 aircraft and specialised product portfolio are well-suited to handle the country’s delicate technology shipments, as well as other exports such as garments and stone fruits.
Regional expansion strategy
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, highlighted the strategic focus on East and Southeast Asia, describing the region as the “foundation” of the airline’s expansion plans through 2026 and beyond. “Markets such as Thailand and Vietnam are the new heartbeat of global trade, with established and modern manufacturing capabilities, evolving digital economies and world-class logistics infrastructure,” he said.
Boosted Vietnam and China services
Driven by high regional demand, Emirates SkyCargo has also increased its freighter frequency in and out of Hanoi to four weekly flights. Three of these connect directly to Dubai World Central (DWC), while one operates on a Dubai–Taipei–Hanoi route, enhancing connectivity for Vietnamese customers. In China, the airline has deployed a sixth weekly freighter to Guangzhou to accommodate strong demand for consumer technology, electrical goods and eCommerce shipments.
Three decades of growth
Over 30 years of operations in East and Southeast Asia, Emirates SkyCargo has built a robust network now spanning 25 gateways. The airline operates 45 weekly freighter services, 13 charter services and 315 passenger flights across the region, providing 21,000 tonnes of cargo capacity every week to connect Asian markets with global trade routes through Dubai.
