In a statement, authorities clarified that the loud sounds heard across parts of the emirate were the result of successful interception operations. Residents in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi reported hearing the blasts for a second consecutive day.
Interception operations
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that air defence systems engaged and intercepted drones as part of precautionary measures amid heightened regional tensions. The falling debris from the intercepted drones landed within the boundaries of two residential properties in Dubai.
Authorities reiterated that the interception operations were successful and conducted in line with established security protocols. No casualties were reported.
Regional tensions
The sounds heard across the UAE coincided with Iran’s retaliatory strikes on neighbouring Gulf states, launched in response to recent US and Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic. Defence forces remained on alert as aerial activity continued in the region.
Officials reassured residents that the situation remains under control, emphasising that national defence systems responded effectively to the aerial threats.
