DUBAIDubai Ride 2025 has kicked off the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) with an unforgettable morning that transformed Sheikh Zayed Road into one of the world’s most iconic cycling tracks, welcoming a record 40,327 cyclists to the sixth edition of this flagship event in a spectacular show of community spirit.

Presented by DP World, the event marked the official start of DFC 2025, setting an energetic tone for the month ahead. Cyclists of all ages and abilities pedalled past some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks – including the Museum of the Future, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Water Canal – under the soft glow of the early morning sky.

From families embarking on their first cycling adventure to professional athletes pushing their limits, the morning captured the spirit of DFC’s theme this year, Find Your Challenge, demonstrating that fitness truly is for everyone, regardless of age or experience.

Two unique routes

Participants selected from two distinct experiences, each designed to celebrate Dubai’s active lifestyle. The family-friendly 4km Downtown route guided riders through Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, offering scenic views of Dubai Opera and the Burj Khalifa – an ideal setting for young cyclists and families.

Those seeking a more demanding challenge took on the 12km Sheikh Zayed Road route, which delivered a unique urban cycling experience. Passing by the Museum of the Future and the city’s architectural marvels, this smooth, flat track allowed cyclists of all abilities to enjoy a meaningful milestone in their 30x30 fitness goals.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said: “Witnessing 40,327 cyclists come together this morning was a powerful reminder of what makes Dubai truly special. In the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’, Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, exemplifies how sport and fitness unite people across all backgrounds and abilities. The energy and dedication we witnessed today continues to grow year after year, demonstrating our community’s commitment to embracing active living.”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), added: “What an extraordinary way to launch Dubai Fitness Challenge 2025. The sight of thousands of cyclists taking over Sheikh Zayed Road this morning was nothing short of remarkable – a true testament to Dubai’s passion for active living. Dubai Ride continues to captivate our community, transforming our iconic roads into a celebration of health, unity, and joy.”

Music and motivation

Adding to the excitement, an impressive lineup of entertainment brought the routes to life. Along the 4km course, Dubai’s beloved mascots Modesh and Dana greeted participants, while the Ride & Style station invited cyclists to personalise their bikes with ribbons, pompom streamers, and stickers.

On the 12km route, MC Katie Overy kept spirits high at the start line, while DJs Shuan and Cool Cats – both set to perform at UNTOLD Dubai – entertained riders along the way. The routes echoed with the rhythmic beats of live drumming groups, and community performances by The Philippine School Dubai Drum & Lyre Corps and the UAE All Star cheerleading squad energised participants throughout the morning.

Families were delighted by the appearance of Teddy Monster in the holding area, and an LED speed limit sign added a playful element by displaying cyclists’ speeds as they passed.

Prominent participants

Dubai Ride 2025 also drew an inspiring list of influential figures from the worlds of fitness, wellness, and entertainment. Among the participants were Leana Deeb, fitness entrepreneur and founder of Uplift You; Gary Brecka, human biologist and founder of The Ultimate Human; Kayla Itsines, global fitness leader and founder of SWEAT; and former French footballer Bacary Sagna, known for his career with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Building on the success of previous years, the morning began with Dubai Ride Speed Laps, where advanced cyclists took to the 12km route at dawn, maintaining a thrilling minimum pace of 30km/h along Sheikh Zayed Road before the main event began.

True to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Dubai Ride reinforced the city’s commitment to becoming one of the most active cities in the world.

More fitness ahead

The excitement continues throughout November, with three major flagship events on the horizon. Dubai Stand Up Paddle, presented by RTA, returns to Hatta Dam on 8-9 November with an expanded two-day format. Dubai Run, presented by Mai Dubai, follows on 23 November, set to once again welcome hundreds of thousands of participants on Sheikh Zayed Road. The month concludes with the debut of Dubai Yoga on 30 November at Zabeel Park, offering a citywide moment of mindfulness and balance.

Complementing these events, three free 30x30 Fitness Villages, 30 Community Fitness Hubs, and thousands of free classes and activities across the city invite residents and visitors to take part in the Dubai Fitness Challenge and find their own path to an active lifestyle.
