Dubai Leadership Research launched with world’s leading academic institutions
Global universities honour Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s model of leadership
DUBAI – Heads of several global universities have praised the leadership journey of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, describing it as a unique model of strategic leadership that has transformed ambitious visions into tangible projects.
They noted that his approach continues to drive sustainable development and accelerate innovation across all sectors.
The comments came during the signing of memoranda of understanding with the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development (MBRCLD) to prepare a new Leadership Programme and produce Dubai Leadership Research, inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s management philosophy. The agreements were signed at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, held on 24th September 2025 at Dubai World Trade Centre.
The memoranda stipulate the development of specialised research and case studies documenting Dubai’s exceptional transformation under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Designed for MBA and executive education programmes, the material will serve as a global reference on inspirational leadership and decision-making. It will be incorporated into conferences, workshops, and academic platforms to amplify its knowledge impact and showcase His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s leadership model as an inspiration worldwide.
This initiative is being delivered in collaboration with universities including Georgetown University, HEC Paris, IESE, IMD, and INSEAD.
What is being studied?
Paul Almeida, Dean and William R. Berkley Chair at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, said the leadership philosophy of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is defined by bold decision-making, strategic foresight, and a commitment to human-centred development. He added that Dubai’s transformation into a hub for finance, trade, technology, tourism, and culture reflects intentional planning aimed at empowering people and improving quality of life.

Almeida noted that Georgetown and MBRCLD share the goal of preparing leaders ready to navigate the complexities of the global economy.
Pablo Martin de Holan, Dean of HEC Paris in Doha, highlighted that the partnership advances the visionary leadership model of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

He described the collaboration as a shared commitment to shaping leadership excellence that contributes both to Dubai’s progress and global knowledge.
How will it be delivered?
Andrea Montalvo, Associate Dean for Executive Education at IESE Business School, confirmed that IESE will contribute detailed case studies on Dubai’s development model.

She stressed that the work will highlight innovation, measurable outcomes, and talent development under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Drawing on over six decades of global experience, IESE will provide strategic insights to enhance the professional development of Emirati leaders and strengthen their role regionally and internationally.
David Bach, President of IMD and Nestlé Professor of Strategy and Political Economy, added that IMD is honoured to develop a leadership case study celebrating the vision and impact of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

IMD’s award-winning case studies are read by tens of thousands of business students annually, and the new Dubai-focused research will expand this reach.
Mark Mortensen, Associate Dean for the Middle East Campus and Professor of Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD, said the partnership with MBRCLD and The Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reflects INSEAD’s dedication to developing leaders who shape the future with vision and impact.

Mortensen explained that integrating Dubai’s story of innovation and sustainable growth into the classroom will equip current and future leaders with knowledge and tools to drive positive change globally. The collaboration, he said, not only enhances INSEAD’s academic offering but also reaffirms its standing as a leading institution in management and leadership education.
