DUBAI – His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has released a new poem written and recited by him, praising the leadership of UAE President His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and highlighting his strength of character, wisdom and steadfast commitment to the nation.

The poem reflects themes long associated with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s literary style, eloquence, layered meaning and vivid imagery rooted in leadership, values and national pride.

In his latest verses, the Dubai Ruler pays tribute to the President’s guidance of the country, describing a leadership defined by resolve, integrity and loyalty.

Strength and resolve

In one part of the poem, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed describes His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as a pillar of strength for the nation, portraying him as a leader whose word remains unwavering and whose promises endure. The imagery centres on firmness and certainty, presenting leadership as both a moral responsibility and a binding commitment.

“When the moment calls, I have a pillar of strength,” the poem reads, before naming “Mohamed” as the figure who stands firmly by his word. The verses emphasise authority carried with purpose, suggesting guidance rooted in duty and conviction.

The poem also speaks of determination in adversity. “Whoever endures hardship can turn the darkest nights bright,” one excerpt states, underscoring resilience as a defining quality of leadership.

Legacy of Zayed

The verses evoke the legacy of the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE, describing his “school” of leadership as one that “raises lions”. The imagery symbolises courage, fortitude and devotion to the country, reinforcing the continuity between past and present leadership.

Through this reference, the poem draws a clear connection between the values instilled by Sheikh Zayed and the path pursued under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. Loyalty, perseverance and wisdom are presented not as abstract qualities, but as lived principles shaping the nation’s journey.

The verses also underline unity, portraying a country strengthened by collective resolve and guided by leaders committed to its long-term stability and prosperity.

Words and meaning

In the opening lines, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed reflects on the power of speech itself: “In the opening of words that are spoken and returned, there is a hidden magic that, once gone, cannot be regained.” The metaphor of fine oud that never loses its fragrance illustrates the enduring impact of meaningful words.

Elsewhere, the poem highlights honour and promise. “If he gives his word, take it with certainty,” the lines declare, affirming steadfastness as a defining trait. The imagery moves between conflict and peace, stating that if he fights, adversaries fall, and if he makes peace, none surpass him in honouring commitments.

The selected excerpts conclude with a reaffirmation of understanding shaped by dedication: “He understands the world through resolve and dedication, for the school of Zayed raises lions.”
