India appoints Dr Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy as new Consul General in Dubai
Appointment follows completion of Satish Kumar Sivan’s tenure
DUBAI – India has appointed Dr Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy as its new Consul General in Dubai, with the Consulate General of India in Dubai confirming the appointment on Monday.
The 2008-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer will serve as India's top diplomat in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. He is expected to assume office after presenting his credentials to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Reddy succeeds Satish Kumar Sivan, who has completed his tenure leading one of India's most significant diplomatic missions overseas.

Distinguished career
An alumnus of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, Dr Reddy is reportedly the first Telangana-born IFS officer to head India's Consulate in Dubai. A native of Warangal district, he has built a career spanning diplomacy, public administration and investment promotion.
According to an official biographical note published in Telangana Industrial Health Clinic Limited's 2023-24 annual report, he has served at Indian missions in Madrid and Geneva, handling both bilateral and multilateral relations. He also worked at the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters in the Europe West, Latin America and Caribbean, and External Publicity divisions.
Before his latest appointment, Dr Reddy served as Regional Passport Officer in Hyderabad and later as Special Secretary for Investment Promotion and External Engagement in the Telangana government. Indian media reports said this will be his first diplomatic posting in the Gulf region.
Indian Consulate in Dubai
Dubai's Indian Consulate is among India's busiest overseas missions, serving one of the world's largest Indian expatriate communities while supporting trade, investment and consular services across Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Ahead of taking charge, Dr Reddy met representatives of India's gems and jewellery industry, including leaders from the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council and Bharat Diamond Bourse, to better understand the UAE's role in the sector.
According to GJEPC data, India's gem and jewellery exports to the UAE reached US$8.70 billion during the 2025-26 financial year. Latest figures from India's Commerce and Industry Ministry also show bilateral trade between India and the UAE climbed to a record US$101.25 billion during the same period, reinforcing the strategic importance of the Dubai mission.
