WATCH | How new upgrades will cut Al Wasl Road travel time by half
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a major upgrade project on Al Wasl Road, spanning 15 km from Umm Suqeim Street to 2nd December Street.
The development includes six intersection upgrades and five tunnels totalling 3,850 metres, along with widening the road to three lanes in each direction.
The project aims to reduce travel time by 50% and increase capacity to 12,000 vehicles per hour.
It forms part of a wider master plan covering Umm Suqeim and Al Safa Streets, with enhancements such as pedestrian walkways, cycling tracks, and vibrant urban spaces.
The initiative also supports population growth and improves traffic flow in key residential and tourist areas.
