Kuwait suspends flights after Iranian missile and drone strike hits airport terminal
Air traffic halted while damage assessments continue
DUBAI – Kuwait's Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) activated its emergency plan at Kuwait International Airport on Wednesday after Terminal One was hit by Iranian missiles and drones, resulting in casualties and damage to several airport facilities.
According to PACA spokesman Abdullah Al-Rajhi, authorities launched emergency response measures immediately following the attack to safeguard passengers, workers and critical infrastructure. The announcement was carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Flight disruption
Air traffic at the airport was suspended, with flights diverted to nearby airports until further notice. Officials said the move was necessary to ensure safety while emergency procedures remained in effect.
Damage review
Al-Rajhi said security and technical contingency plans had been activated to support the eventual resumption of airport operations. Technical teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage caused by the strike before repair work can begin.
Authorities have not yet indicated when normal flight operations will resume, as inspections and security measures continue across the airport complex.
