UAE weather alert: Dust, winds, and rain expected until 8th January
Temperatures set to dip, particularly over western and northern regions
DUBAI – The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a forecast of unstable weather across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from today until Thursday, 8th January.
Conditions will include dust storms, partly cloudy skies, occasional fog or mist, and a chance of light rainfall across different regions.
UAE weather today
On Sunday, fog or mist formed over some internal and coastal areas, while dusty conditions gradually shift to partly cloudy skies.
Winds from the southwesterly to northwesterly direction remain light to moderate, becoming active at times, particularly over the sea. Wind speeds are expected between 15 and 30 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h. The Arabian Gulf stays rough to very rough, with wave heights offshore reaching 7 feet, while the Oman Sea remains moderate.

The lowest temperature recorded on Sunday morning was 7.6°C in Hamim, Al Dhafra Region, at 07:00 UAE local time.
Monday outlook
Monday morning will see humid conditions, with fog or mist likely over some eastern internal areas. Skies will range from fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds over eastern and northern regions. Light rainfall is possible over the far north. Temperatures are expected to decrease, particularly in western areas.
Winds will shift from northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, and active at times, with speeds between 10 and 25 km/h, reaching up to 40 km/h. The Arabian Gulf will be rough to moderate, and the Oman Sea slight.
Midweek weather
On Tuesday and Wednesday, humid conditions will continue with chances of fog or mist over internal and western coastal areas. Weather will alternate between fair and partly cloudy, with low clouds affecting islands and western sea areas. Light rainfall remains possible in some regions.
Winds are expected to remain northwesterly to northeasterly, light to moderate, active at times, with speeds up to 35 km/h. The Arabian Gulf will be slight to moderate, and the Oman Sea slight.
Thursday forecast
Humidity will persist on Thursday, with fog or mist likely over internal and western areas. Skies will be fair to partly cloudy, with low clouds over islands and coastal regions. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, especially in northern areas.
Winds will remain northeasterly to northwesterly, light to moderate and active at times, reaching speeds up to 35 km/h. Seas will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.
