How safe are Abu Dhabi and Dubai for night travel in 2025?
UAE capital earns highest nighttime safety score among 100+ global cities
ABU DHABI: The UAE capital has been named the safest city in the world to explore at night, according to a new global study by UK-based long-haul travel specialist Travelbag.
Scoring 87 out of 100 for nighttime safety, Abu Dhabi leads a list of more than 100 major global destinations evaluated for their appeal to after-dark travellers.
The study highlights a surge in “noctourism” for 2025, with Google reporting a 164% increase in global searches for night festivals and a 33% jump in interest in stargazing tourism over the past three months.

Abu Dhabi not only secured the top spot in safety, but also placed 12th overall in Travelbag’s ranking of the most scenic cities to explore after dark. With low light and noise pollution (score: 47), an estimated 62 late-night venues, and 1,067 Instagram hashtags showcasing its nocturnal charm, the city proves an ideal blend of calm and culture for evening explorers.
Dubai: safety meets skyline
Dubai's appeal as a nighttime destination continues to grow, bolstered by a safety score of 83 – just behind Abu Dhabi – and a light and noise pollution score of 53. The city’s 190 late-night venues may be modest in number compared to New York or Tokyo, but they offer a refined experience ranging from rooftop lounges to waterfront dining.
Dubai among most scenic
While Abu Dhabi leads in safety, Dubai stands out as one of the most scenic cities globally to explore at night. Ranked third overall by Travelbag, the emirate is lauded for its visually captivating skyline, strong safety score, and curated nightlife experiences.
Instagram plays a vital role in measuring appeal. With 29,600 posts under #Dubaiatnight, the emirate ranks among the most visually celebrated cities in the world after dark.
According to Danny Hugill, Destination Executive for the Middle East and Indian Ocean at Travelbag, Dubai transforms after sunset: “You can head to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood for an atmospheric evening walk, catch the Dubai Fountain show, and end your night with drinks at Cé La Vi or dinner at Paros.”
Abu Dhabi also made the cut in the top 15 most scenic cities at night, landing in 12th place and reinforcing the UAE’s growing appeal among nocturnal travellers.
Other top-ranking cities include:
