Emirates announces new daily Dubai-Tokyo flight
Additional frequency improves onward links across Europe, Africa and South America
DUBAI – Emirates will expand its operations to Japan with the launch of a second daily service to Tokyo Narita from 1 May, strengthening connectivity between Dubai and one of Asia’s key aviation hubs.
The additional frequency marks a significant capacity boost on the route and forms part of the airline’s broader investment in upgraded aircraft and passenger experience.
The new service will be operated by a retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER featuring Emirates’ latest cabin interiors.
New Dubai-Tokyo flight
The new flight, EK320, will depart Dubai at 22:30 and arrive at Tokyo Narita at 13:30 the following day. The return service, EK321, will leave Narita at 21:30 and land in Dubai at 03:50 the next day. All times are local.
The added timing is designed to optimise connections in both directions. Eastbound passengers will reach Tokyo in the afternoon, supporting smoother onward domestic travel and reducing connection times from key European and Middle Eastern points. Westbound travellers departing Japan will arrive in Dubai early in the morning, aligning with onward departures to major destinations across Europe, Africa and South America. These include Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Brazil.
Cabin upgrade
The refurbished Boeing 777-300ER deployed on EK320 and EK321 features a four-class configuration and refreshed interiors across all cabins. The aircraft includes 260 latest-generation Economy seats, 24 Premium Economy seats, 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and eight First Class Suites.
Design enhancements include modern colour palettes, wood finishes and Ghaf Tree motifs integrated into the cabin aesthetic. Premium Economy, now available on the Narita route through the upgraded aircraft, adds a mid-tier option for travellers seeking additional comfort on long-haul journeys between Japan and the UAE.
Onboard dining will feature regionally inspired options, including Japanese selections such as a Kaiseki meal tray. Across all classes, passengers will have access to more than 6,500 channels of on-demand entertainment on Emirates’ ice system, covering films, television series, music, podcasts and documentaries, alongside a curated range of Japanese content.
Emirates in Japan
Emirates has served Japan since 2002 and currently operates three daily services to the country, connecting Dubai with Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda and Osaka. These routes are operated using a mix of Boeing 777 and A380 aircraft, with Premium Economy available on all services.
From 1 May, the airline will offer more than 22,500 weekly seats to and from Japan across 28 weekly flights serving three gateways. The expanded schedule also increases cargo capacity, with Emirates able to carry up to 1,240 tonnes of freight each week in and out of Japan, supporting trade links with markets across the GCC, Europe and Africa.
Premium travellers in Japan have also seen service enhancements on the ground. Emirates introduced its Chauffeur-drive service in Narita earlier this month, with the offering set to extend to Osaka from 1 March.
Beyond its own operations, Emirates provides extended domestic reach through partnerships with Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways, covering 36 destinations including 26 domestic and 10 regional points. The additional Narita frequency is expected to provide more flexible connection options to these destinations, reinforcing Dubai’s role as a global transfer hub between Japan and markets worldwide.
