ABU DHABI: Air Arabia, the UAE capital’s first low-cost airline, has marked a major milestone with the launch of its inaugural direct flight to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The service operates three times a week, reinforcing the carrier’s mission to offer affordable travel options to key international destinations.

The new route enhances connectivity between the UAE and Central Asia, making it easier for travellers to explore one of the region’s most vibrant cultural and natural landscapes.

Almaty, nestled in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains, is famed for its rich history, outdoor attractions, and economic significance.

Abu Dhabi to Almaty

Adel Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of Air Arabia, emphasised the strategic importance of the launch. “We are pleased to inaugurate our non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Almaty,” he said. “This launch offers passengers the opportunity to explore Central Asia while providing travellers from Kazakhstan with seamless access to the dynamic capital of the UAE.”

The new flights depart from Zayed International Airport, where Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, welcomed the development. “This connection enhances travel options for our passengers and reflects our ongoing efforts to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub,” she said.

Onboard experience

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi operates a modern fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, known for efficiency and passenger comfort. Onboard services include ‘SkyTime’—a free in-flight streaming platform—and ‘SkyCafe’, where passengers can purchase meals and snacks at budget-friendly prices. The airline also features ‘Air Rewards’, a loyalty programme that allows members to earn and redeem points with flexibility.

Warm welcome at Yas Island

Passengers arriving from Almaty were met with a celebratory welcome organised by Yas Island in partnership with Air Arabia and Abu Dhabi Airports. Upon landing, guests were greeted by iconic characters Tom and Jerry from Warner Bros. World™ Yas Island, adding a delightful surprise at the luggage area.

Travellers also received complimentary Yas Island-themed tote bags packed with merchandise from the destination’s famed theme parks, including SeaWorld®, Ferrari World, and Yas Waterworld. This initiative reflects Yas Island’s dedication to enhancing guest experiences and promoting Abu Dhabi as a premier tourism hotspot.
