ABU DHABI – Abu Dhabi Police have arrested 375 individuals of various nationalities for filming sensitive locations and circulating misleading information on social media platforms linked to ongoing regional developments.
The authority confirmed that those detained have been referred to the Public Prosecution to face legal proceedings in line with applicable laws. The arrests follow repeated warnings issued to the public regarding the risks of spreading unverified content during heightened regional tensions.
The police said the violations included recording footage of different sites and sharing or publishing inaccurate information online, actions considered a direct breach of regulations designed to safeguard national security and public stability. Authorities reiterated that maintaining order and preventing the spread of misinformation remains a priority, particularly during periods of heightened uncertainty.
Legal action
According to officials, all individuals involved have been referred to competent judicial authorities, where legal measures will be pursued under the UAE’s existing legislative framework. The offences, which include spreading false information and inciting public concern, carry penalties under laws governing cybercrime and public safety.

Individuals were encouraged to verify the authenticity of news through official and credible sources before reposting or commenting. Authorities cautioned against being influenced by rumours or forwarding content that has not been confirmed.
