DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched its Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, setting out a framework to strengthen Dubai’s transport systems and infrastructure against evolving climate challenges.

The initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s future vision while advancing its position as a sustainable and resilient city. The strategy focuses on ensuring transport services can continue operating efficiently and reliably under changing environmental conditions.

The new framework is aimed at developing a transport network and supporting infrastructure capable of adapting to accelerating climate-related challenges. RTA said the strategy represents a strategic step towards strengthening the resilience of its assets and services while supporting Dubai’s broader sustainability objectives.

Future readiness

As part of the strategy, RTA will continue developing its policies, regulatory frameworks, and technical and operational standards to keep pace with changing climate conditions. The approach is intended to strengthen the Authority’s ability to anticipate future developments, identify potential risks and manage them efficiently and effectively.

The strategy also places emphasis on maintaining the reliability of transport services under varying conditions. By integrating climate adaptation into its policies and operational standards, RTA is seeking to strengthen the long-term resilience of the systems and infrastructure supporting mobility across Dubai.

Climate action

RTA has also reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to local, national and global efforts aimed at developing more sustainable and resilient communities. The Authority said the strategy supports wider efforts to advance sustainability, innovation and climate action.

The initiative further aligns with Dubai’s ambition to strengthen its standing as a global hub for sustainability and innovation, while ensuring its transport infrastructure is better prepared to respond to the changing climate landscape.
