35 flights affected as dense fog hits Dubai airports
Humid nights and light winds keep fog risks high this week
DUBAI – Operations at Dubai Airports faced early disruption on Tuesday as dense fog and mist reduced visibility across the UAE, affecting both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC).
A total of 35 flights were impacted, with 12 cancellations and 23 inbound diversions reported by airport authorities.
Flights disruption
Dubai Airports confirmed that adverse weather conditions since the early hours led to the cancellation and diversion of multiple services. “Dubai Airports is working closely with airlines and service partners to minimise disruption to guests and restore normal operations as soon as possible,” a spokesperson said.
Passengers were advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight information.
Weather alerts
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert for parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman due to fog formation and low visibility. Roads across the emirates also saw slower traffic as drivers navigated through misty conditions.
Tuesday’s bulletin highlighted low cloud formation in the east, with increasing humidity overnight into Wednesday morning. Light to moderate winds, occasionally freshening, are expected to continue.
Temperature outlook
Temperatures are forecast to range from 30 to 32°C in coastal and internal areas, while mountainous regions may experience cooler conditions between 17 and 22°C. Winds may strengthen to 30-35 km/h at times, with slight sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea. Humidity is expected to remain high, particularly overnight, maintaining a risk of fog or mist through early mornings across coastal and inland regions.
