Extra corridors and train services activated to strengthen network resilience
ABU DHABI – Etihad Rail Freight services across the UAE’s national railway network are continuing to operate normally, ensuring the uninterrupted movement of goods across the country and reinforcing the resilience of national supply chains.
Over the past nine days alone, Etihad Rail Freight, a subsidiary of Etihad Rail, has operated more than 100 freight train trips, transporting more than 459,000 tonnes of cargo and over 7,900 containers across the network.
The operations highlight the growing importance of rail as a dependable channel for freight movement in the UAE.
Cargo movement
The national railway network continues to provide reliable connectivity between key industrial zones, ports and logistics hubs, helping businesses maintain steady supply chains and transport goods efficiently across the country.

Rail freight services are designed to offer a safe and sustainable transport alternative while reducing pressure on road networks. The system has increasingly become a vital link connecting the country’s manufacturing centres and maritime gateways.
Network resilience
To further strengthen the network’s resilience, additional rail corridors have been activated. Intermodal capacity has also been redeployed to East Coast ports, while the Al Ghail Dry Port Rail Terminal has been supported by five additional train services.
Operations remain aligned with established safety and operational protocols. The company continues to coordinate closely with relevant authorities and monitor developments across the region to ensure service continuity.
