DUBAI – Dubai International Chamber, operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has inaugurated its first representative office in the Nordic region with a launch in Stockholm.

The move aims to boost trade and investment relations between Dubai and Sweden, further expanding the emirate’s international business network.

The opening ceremony in the Swedish capital was attended by Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of the Kingdom of Sweden; Ghasaq Shaheen, UAE Ambassador to Sweden; and Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers.

‘Dubai Global’

The new Stockholm office forms part of the wider ‘Dubai Global’ initiative, which seeks to connect Dubai with key international markets. His Excellency Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, highlighted the move as a major milestone in the chamber’s outreach efforts, emphasising that Sweden’s innovative business ecosystem presents “immense opportunities for collaboration.”

Lootah added that the new office would act as a gateway for Swedish businesses looking to establish or expand in Dubai while showcasing the emirate’s diverse investment prospects.

Rising trade and membership

Non-oil bilateral trade between Dubai and Sweden reached Dh3.9 billion in 2024, marking a 5.3 per cent annual growth. The increasing business synergy is also evident in membership figures: by the end of H1 2025, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce recorded 940 active Swedish members, with 127 new companies joining in the first half of the year.

Dubai International Chamber’s expanding global network now spans five continents, serving as a bridge for cross-border partnerships and investments.
