Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially engaged, with the Spanish model confirming the news on Instagram on Monday.

The 31-year-old shared a close-up of her diamond ring alongside the caption, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” marking a milestone in a relationship that began in 2016.

The engagement comes after Saudi authorities permitted the couple to live together despite local laws prohibiting cohabitation without marriage. Ronaldo joined Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr in December 2022, with the exception reportedly made to secure the high-profile transfer.

How did Cristiano and Georgina meet?

The pair’s first meeting took place in Madrid, where Rodríguez worked as a sales assistant at Gucci. Days later, they met again at a Dolce & Gabbana event, which she described as the moment they could speak freely outside work. “It was love at first sight for both,” Rodríguez said.

They made their first public appearance together at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017, later going “Instagram official” in May that year. Over the years, their relationship has attracted global media attention, from lavish holidays to family milestones.

What about their family?

Ronaldo and Rodríguez share two daughters, Alana Martina, born in November 2017, and Bella Esmeralda, born in April 2022. Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, tragically passed away at birth, a loss the couple publicly addressed at the time.

In addition, Ronaldo has three other children: Cristiano Jr., born in 2010, and twins Eva and Mateo, born via surrogate in 2017. All five children live with the couple in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo, 40, has previously spoken about marriage, telling interviewer Piers Morgan that both he and Rodríguez “deserve” it, but insisting he was waiting for the right moment. In her Netflix series I Am Georgina, Rodríguez hinted at a proposal in the future, while earlier this year she fuelled speculation by posting a cryptic image of an emerald-cut ring.

Now, with the engagement confirmed, the football star and his fiancée continue to share glimpses of their life in Riyadh with millions of followers, while balancing Ronaldo’s football career and their growing family.
