RTA outlines major road projects to enhance Dubai’s residential mobility
Residents invited to provide feedback on mobility and congestion challenges
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently held a Customer Council meeting with residents of Al Twar and neighbouring communities to discuss ongoing and upcoming plans for improving traffic flow in Dubai’s residential areas and enhancing local infrastructure.
The session also provided an overview of current projects as well as initiatives under study, reflecting RTA’s commitment to raising satisfaction levels among the public.
The meeting was chaired by Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency and Chair of the Customer Council, in the presence of Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency, alongside senior RTA leaders and directors. Discussions centred on major road projects that commenced in 2024 and will continue through 2027. Key initiatives include the introduction of dedicated bus and taxi lanes across six primary locations spanning 13 km, expansion of junctions and roads in Deira and Bur Dubai, improvements to the cycling track with enhanced landscaping and new rest areas, and the installation of additional energy-efficient LED lighting.
Customer feedback
Through these gatherings, RTA aims to update residents on transport and infrastructure developments, collect feedback on mobility and congestion concerns, and ensure the public is actively engaged in shaping future projects. The approach aligns with RTA’s Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which focuses on integrated mobility, improved accessibility, enhanced multimodal connectivity, expansion of mobility services, and overall customer happiness.
