Sherry Singh creates history for India with Mrs Universe 2025 title
Fashion graduate and mother triumphs over 120 global contestants in Manila
DUBAI – History was made in Manila as Sherry Singh became the first-ever Indian to win the prestigious Mrs Universe title.
The 48th edition of the global pageant, held at the Okada Luxury Resorts in the Philippines on Sunday, brought together 120 married women from around the world.
Representing her country as Mrs India 2025, Singh’s poise, eloquence, and purpose-driven advocacy set her apart as she took home the coveted crown.
India’s first Mrs Universe
Singh’s victory was celebrated by UMB Pageants, the official platform that crowned her Mrs India earlier this year.
“India has officially won its first-ever Mrs Universe crown,” the organisers said in a statement, calling the achievement a “golden chapter in history.”
Videos from the event showed Singh visibly emotional as confetti rained down when her name was announced, marking a milestone moment for Indian pageantry.
Who is Sherry Singh?
Known for her work in women’s empowerment and mental health awareness, Sherry Singh impressed judges with her heartfelt responses and confidence. Her message emphasised that true beauty lies in strength, compassion, and resilience.
She outshone participants from Saint Petersburg, the Philippines, Russia, and Asia, with the final results placing Saint Petersburg and the Philippines as first and second runners-up respectively.
Originally from Noida, Delhi, Singh holds a master’s degree in fashion and is a former national-level basketball player. Married for nine years and mother to a young son, she balances family life with her passion for fitness, fashion, and philanthropy. With nearly 25,000 Instagram followers, Singh uses her platform to promote education for underprivileged girls and advocate emotional well-being.
Her mentor, Urmimala Boruah, national director of UMB Pageants, praised her historic achievement, saying Singh’s win has “set a new benchmark for every woman who wishes to represent her country with dignity and confidence.”
