Anonymous donor contributes Dh15 million to UAE campaign fighting child hunger
Edge of Life aims to raise Dh1 billion for vulnerable children worldwide
DUBAI – An anonymous benefactor has contributed Dh15 million in support of the Edge of Life campaign, a major humanitarian initiative launched during Ramadan to help rescue five million children from hunger around the world.
The campaign was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, with the goal of raising at least Dh1 billion. The funds will be invested in programmes aimed at combating childhood hunger and malnutrition in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
The initiative operates under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and is organised in partnership with leading humanitarian organisations including UNICEF, Save the Children, Children's Investment Fund Foundation and Action Against Hunger.
Edge of Life
The Edge of Life campaign places special emphasis on children facing the threat of hunger in the world’s most vulnerable regions, particularly those affected by natural disasters and conflict.
Global statistics highlight the scale of the challenge. According to campaign data, five children under the age of five die every minute due to malnutrition and hunger, underscoring the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian action.
Through its structured approach, the campaign seeks not only to deliver food assistance and nutrition programmes but also to inspire a broad community movement that supports long-term efforts to protect children from hunger.
The Dh15 million contribution reflects the continuing engagement of the UAE community with the Ramadan initiative, which encourages individuals, businesses and institutions to support the humanitarian drive.
