DUBAIDubai Police on Wednesday unveiled its cutting-edge Biometric Tunnel, developed by Dubiometrics, at GITEX Global 2025, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The innovation combines artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify people by their gait – the unique way they walk – turning motion into a powerful digital identifier.

Biometric Tunnel

The tunnel analyses a person’s walking pattern as they pass through, creating what experts call a “motion fingerprint.”

Within just five seconds, it captures intricate details such as joint movement, walking rhythm, and even the subtle impact of flat feet, producing a one-of-a-kind biometric signature.

According to Lt. Col. Dr. Hamad Mansour Al Awr, the project director, the Biometric Tunnel is still in the research and development phase but already shows promising potential for forensic use. The system can identify individuals even when conventional biometric data – like fingerprints or facial scans – are unavailable.

When is it used?

By integrating gait data with other identifiers such as facial, ear, and body measurements, the tunnel provides valuable evidence in criminal investigations.

The advanced analysis of body movement helps Dubai Police enhance identification accuracy, adding a new layer of precision to forensic science.
