Festive mood soars high with special menus and over 160 Indian films
DUBAI –֪ Emirates is joining the festive spirit of Diwali – the Hindu festival of lights – with a week-long celebration onboard and in lounges from 17th to 24th October.
Passengers flying between Dubai and nine Indian cities – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolkata and Mumbai – will enjoy a specially curated menu of traditional Indian sweets and savouries.
Festive feasts onboard
Travellers across all cabin classes will be treated to authentic Diwali desserts.
In Premium Economy and Economy Class, motichoor laddus – tiny golden spheres of sweetened chickpea flour, perfumed with cardamom and saffron – will accompany hot meals.
In First and Business Class, guests can indulge in kaju pista rolls, a luxurious blend of cashew and pistachio enriched with rose flavour and wrapped in silver leaf.
Lounges full of flavour
Emirates’ First and Business Class Lounges in Dubai are offering a culinary journey through India’s festive kitchens. The spread includes onion kachoris, paneer potli samosas, and a duo of chutneys. For dessert, guests can enjoy mango sandwiches, balushahi, kesar rasgullas and the timeless gajar ka halwa.
Exclusive Diwali cocktails like the Spicy Saffron Martini for First Class and Elderflower Gin Fizz for Business Class, along with mocktails such as the Chai Chat Latte and Berry Basil Splash, add a celebratory twist to the lounge experience.
Travellers in the Emirates Lounges of Cape Town and Johannesburg – home to vibrant Indian communities – can also savour gulab jamun and traditional rice pudding, paired with chilled mango lassi.
Entertainment in full bloom
Emirates’ award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, is also going festive, featuring up to 167 Indian films including Laapataa Ladies, Crazxy, Jigra, The Lost Girl and Apurva.
Passengers can explore regional cinema across nine Indian languages – from Tamil to Gujarati – or tune in to 14 television programmes such as The Traitors India and Love, Life, Lafde with Zakir Khan.
Music enthusiasts can enjoy over 40 Indian albums and curated playlists to complement the mood of Diwali in the clouds.
